You learned about adding polynomials.
Homework is Page 580 #20-30 even, 34, 36, 40, 52, 56, 58, 60.
We will be returning to Chapter 8 to review exponents.

Hello 8th graders
Today we learned about special products of polynomials.
Remember there are 3 cases

case 1: (a+b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2 example: (x+4)^2 = x^2 + 2(4x)+16 = x^2 + 8x + 16
case 2: (a-b)^2 = a^2 -2ab + b^2 example: (x-4) ^2 = x^2 - 2(4x) +16 = x^2 -8x + 16
case 3: (a+b)(a-b) = a^2 - b^2 example: (x+4)(x-4) = x^2 - 16


Your homework is page 593 #16-38 all

Your only homework is to prepare for your test on exponents on Friday.

Your homework tonight is page 587 #18-44 even. Challenge yourself by doing #52-55 all.
For numbers 18-28, use the distributuve property. For the problems 30-44, use the FOIL method.
Remember: (x-3)(x+2)

F- mulitply first terms - (x)(x)
O- muliply outer terms - (x)(2)
I - multiply inner terms - (x) (-3)
L- multiply last terms - (-3) (2)

= x^2 + 2x - 3x -6 = x^2 -x -6

Use the tutorials.

4/16/2007 Period 8 (9th- 12th grade)

Today we reviewed working with exponents. We went over Page 804 homework from the previous class.
You were assigned page 497 #1-20 all. We will go over in class. Remember only those who did the work will be given credit for the work.
On Friday, we will have a test on chapter 8.

Period 4

The first part of your 2 part homework this weekend is to make you test corrections.
The 2nd part is to work on page 580 #20-62 even.

You homework tonight is page 804 #1-28 all. Remember to do your best to answer the questions. We will go over it in class on Thursday. We will also have short test on chapter 8 material on THursday 4/5/2007, so review those laws of exponents.

3/2/2007 Period 8

Your homework was pages 356 -357 #20-60 even.
We will be having a test on units 6.1-6.4 on Wednesday 4/4/2007.

Memorize your multiplication tables from 0-12
Memorize your squares from 0-25
Example:
1 squared = 1
2 squared = 4
up to 25 squared = 625
